What exactly is BICSI?
An acronym for Building Industry Consulting Service International, Inc.; BICSI is a professional association that supports the information and communications technology (ICT) industry. BICSI members are the people who design, install and maintain ICT. BICSI serves more than 23,000 professionals with access to training, conferences, publications, and credentialing programs. Established in 1977 and headquartered in Tampa, FL; BICSI has memberships represented in over 100 countries.
Now that you know what BICSI is, here are some important things to know about a career in ICT and what BICSI’s role in that might be. ICT simply refers to the cable and wires installed in a building to make electronics work and communicate. ICT is the reason your tablet has WiFi access, or the reason your cell phone has signal. It’s also the reason the sound system works at a concert, or the scoreboard is working at your favorite team’s arena/stadium. It’s pretty much in every aspect of our lives! People who have pursued careers in ICT have worked in some very exciting environments: stadiums, airports, government buildings – just to name a few. The possibilities are virtually endless. ICT is a fast-paced, ever-changing industry; and those who are skilled in ICT are always in high demand. BICSI can help you take your career to the next level through certification, education, networking, and much more!
